Storyboard Artist Needed (Telecommute)

Posted on 9:04 AM by Nathalie

Seeking a storyboard artist to draft complete or partial panels for a 104 page script: a science fiction drama in the vein of films like Moon, Take Shelter, and Melancholia. Realistically, only 60% needs to have panels, as the other dialogue/stationary scenes are not crucial for display. Script/Boards will be presented as a part of a package for presentation to potential producers.

Those interested can be students, freelancers, and part-time professionals who are well versed in film narratives and either b/w hand-drawn or digital storyboarding. Realistic style and depictions preferred. So is quick work, though there is not a hard deadline. Yet since this is a small project, creative freedom is welcomed, as you'll be interpreting only minor directions from the script.

Pay TBD: per page or flat fee

TITLE: "MOURNING"

LOG:

The sun goes out as three life-long friends sit shiva, a period of Jewish mourning, forcing them underground to endure their darkest days yet.

SYNOPSIS:

Set as a neo-apocalyptic allegory for lamentation and the uncertain future that follows when losing someone dear, this intimate science fiction drama follows FRANK SERLING, LIAM SYCAMORE, and his other half CLAIRE, as they sit shiva (a period of Jewish mourning) to grieve Frank's deceased wife at a remote Montana cottage. The sun sets at dusk and fails to reappear the next morning, plunging the trio into a world devoid of known order, reason, and logical explanation.

Frank must rescue his son, GRAY, from an anarchic Chicago, while Liam and Claire join their engineering neighbor BILL and his son LARAMIE in their subterranean emergency shelter, the construction of which is urgently finished as the atmosphere begins to freeze. Frank returns with Gray, and they all descend into a new life of hardship, hopeless routine, and cabin fever induced hallucinations.

Eight months later, a pregnant Claire goes into labor and the generator fails, forcing a morbid ultimatum: perish from the trapped toxic carbon fumes, or ascend to the surface and brave the unknown?
